A Fertility Detox Regimen to Battle Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals
Set the Stage for Conception, Pregnancy, Nursing, and a Healthy Baby with FertileDetox!
Doctor-designed FertileDetoxTM was formulated to enhance fertility in women and men by helping the body's detoxification systems neutralize and remove the toxic compounds that diminish both reproductive health and the health of baby.* In a recent landmark statement, the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) warned that "exposure to toxic environmental chemicals during pregnancy and breastfeeding is ubiquitous and is a threat to healthy human reproduction". A New York Times article written shortly after the release of the FIGO study recommends avoiding everyday chemicals as a good first step. However, the fact of the matter is that the excessive presence of endocrine disrupting chemicals in our work places, homes, food, air and water makes avoidance very difficult. Your body is equipped to handle a certain amount of toxin removal on its own but the levels of everyday chemicals in our lives is surpassing the body’s capabilities for removal.
What Can Be Harming My Fertility?
The air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, the personal products (shampoos and cosmetics) we apply, and the cleaning supplies we use often contain harmful chemicals. Because of the heavy toll these toxic compounds can exact on our health if they are allowed to build up in our tissues, it is necessary for the human body to devote a significant amount of its resources to removing these dangerous compounds from the body. Consequently, much of the work of the liver and the intestines is devoted specifically to detoxification. Unfortunately, the liver and intestines are constantly bombarded with toxic chemicals and, at times, are not able to eliminate these compounds before they become locked away in the fatty tissues that are located throughout the body. As a result, chronic exposure to these environmental toxins can decrease sperm health in men, cause menstrual cycle abnormalities in women, and interfere with the healthy development of a growing fetus.*

Is It Too Late to Detox If I'm Already Trying to Conceive?
A common question we hear is when to start detoxing and if it's too late to begin if you are already trying to get pregnant. The sad fact is that we all have toxins already locked away in our fat cells, but it's not too late to remove the free flowing toxins. Starting a detox program at any time before conception can bring benefits to your fertility and your baby quickly. We recommend that you begin avoidance of toxins, as much as is practical, twelve months ahead of trying to conceive. Starting FertileDetox three to six months ahead of trying to conceive and continuing through to conception will increase your body's ability to deal with the toxins that simply can't be avoided. If you are planning to nurse, detoxing your body ahead of conception will add lasting benefits to your baby's IQ and neurodevelopment. Coupling FertileDetox with OvaBoost in our Endocrine Disrupter Restore Bundle will give your body extra antioxidants to fight the effects of free radicals that occur when toxins hit your body. How FertileDetox Works
FertileDetoxTM is designed to promote reproductive health and improve fertility by promoting the efficient elimination of environmental toxins from the body.* This unique and comprehensive formula includes vitamins, minerals, amino acids, herbs and special ingredients that support the body's own detoxification and cleansing systems (specifically the liver and the intestines), such as:
- Milk thistle (Silybum marinanum): One of the most well-studied of all medicinal herbs, milk thistle has been scientifically proven to protect and regenerate liver cells, and is commonly used in Europe in the treatment of various liver conditions. As part of a detoxification program, milk thistle can aid the liver in clearing toxins and boost the antioxidant activity of liver cells.
- Dandelion root (Taraxacum officinale): Dandelion has a long history of traditional use as a tonic for the digestive system and the liver. Its gentle, protective effects include increasing the production and flow of bile (which aids in the digestion of fat) and helping to clear excess hormones from the body.
- Grape seed extract and Green tea extract: These plants contain powerful antioxidants that support the body's ability to neutralize free radicals, which unstable oxygen compounds that cause cellular damage. The liver's detoxification processes result in the production of free radicals, so supplementing with additional antioxidants is necessary when promoting efficient detoxification.
- Calcium d-glucarate: Calcium d-glucarate is the calcium salt of D-glucaric acid, a substance that is produced naturally in small amounts in humans. Glucaric acid is also found in many fruits and vegetables, including oranges, apples, grapefruit and cruciferous vegetables. Calcium d-glucarate helps the liver remove fat-soluble toxins by slowing the activity of beta-glucoronidase, an enzyme that promotes the reabsorption of toxic chemicals rather than the excretion of these chemicals.
- N-acetyl-cysteine, L-glycine, and L-glutamine: These amino acids are important for the synthesis of glutathione, a powerful antioxidant found within every cell in the body. Glutathione plays an important role in the liver's detoxification pathways by binding to fat-soluble toxins, allowing these toxins to be excreted more easily. High exposure to toxins uses up glutathione quickly, which means increased synthesis of this vital antioxidant is crucial for efficient detoxification.
- Probiotics: FertileDetox includes a proprietary probiotic blend, including Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Bifidobacterium longum. Poor diet, stress, illness and certain medications can upset the fragile balance between unhealthy and friendly bacteria in your gut. Supplementing your diet with these friendly bacteria helps to "crowd out" harmful bacteria, thereby increasing the health of the immune and digestive systems and promoting the efficient elimination and neutralization of toxic compounds that can negatively impact reproductive health.
- Citrus pectin: This natural source of soluble dietary fiber improves digestive health by promoting the elimination of heavy metals and by nourishing healthy bacteria in the gut.
- Vitamin B6, vitamin B12, and folic acid: These vitamins are known as lipotropic agents, which are compounds that promote fat metabolism and have a decongesting effect on the liver.
